After the procedure, you will most likely have to stay overnight in the hospital. You will be able to get up and walk the next day. The pain will stay for several following days, but applying cold compresses/ice packs will reduce the pain and swelling. Any drains in your body will be removed by a surgeon within a few days. You will be able to shower and continue your usual everyday activities within about a week after the surgery. All physical activities are allowed 3-4 weeks after a surgery.
After the surgery, compression garment will be applied to the area treated. This garment supports incisions, decreases swelling and bruising that may occur post-operation. It is important that you wear it for 3 following weeks.
Improvement in your body contour will be visible instantly; however, better results will be seen after a week when the swelling diminishes. After your body contouring is done, you will look as good as you feel and will be able to enjoy your new body shape.
Potential complications: bleeding, infections, asymmetry and healing problems that can result in heavy scars. The skin is weakened during the surgery, so there is a slim risk of loss of some skin due to insufficient circulation of blood. This risk is bigger for people with certain types of old scars and for people who smoke. It is crucial to quit smoking and using aspirin at least 14 days before the surgery.
