Thinking about fuller breasts?

Breast enlargement may be performed to increase the breasts size, restore their shape after pregnancy or balance the differences between breasts. This is done either by transferring own fat or by placing an implant behind a breast.

Breast enlargement abroad

During the initial free consultation with the surgeon the best solution will be found for every patient. As every case is unique, there might be additional surgeries (usually, breast lift) needed. Our breast enlargement expert will also determine and discuss the best way to insert the implant (for your anatomy).

The surgery goes as following: an incision is made either in the crease under the breast, around the areola or under the armpit, depending on every patient’s needs. The surgeon will discuss the most appropriate place to make the incision. Later, a pocket is created over or under the muscle (mostly done in our practice) and the implant is located inside. The implants come in various sizes and the surgeon will explain to the patient which size suits the patient’s body the most.

Implants come in two shapes (a round or a teardrop) and, following the newest scientific research, the innovative dual-gel breast implants are being used. These implants are made of two layers silicone gel. The first layer is more solid to provide and preserve the breast shape. Thanks to the layered silicone gel, the breast looks natural as the implant has no sharp edges and tightly fits to the chest even if the patient is very thin. These implants are used in reconstructive breast surgery as well.

Note: the clinic uses only reliable and worldwide acknowledged POLYTECH® implants manufactured by German company POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics. They are reliable and preferred by our patients for their feel, i.e. the natural feeling when touched.

After breast enlargement abroad

The patient will be informed about the wound care, medication and suture removal after the surgery. It is to be expected that the patient’s physical activity will be limited for a few weeks; however, the patient will be ready to go/fly back home in 5-7 days following the procedure. The scars are expected to be rigid for the first 6 weeks, but afterwards they will become less visible (fade) gradually.

Fat transfer to the breasts

Fat transfer is used to make the breasts look fuller (after breast lift), improve their appearance or fix problems related to the implant, such as rippling or wrinkling. At the same time, it uses fat from other undersired areas (such as tummy or flanks). Thus, the gains are double.

However, breast enlargement using the patient’s body fat takes much more time than the traditional implantation. This is because there are several steps to be done: removal of the fat, its preparation and placement into the breast. Considerable amount of body fat is removed by hand (manually, without using any machines). Then the extracted body fat is prepared – unwanted components (such as blood, water, anaesthetics etc.) are removed and the fat is injected through small incisions using special cannulas and making dozens of tiny injections into different breast tissue layers. Necrosis (cell death) might occur and fat cells must be over-injected to compensate for it. Note: the surgeon might recommend more than one fat transfer to achieve the best result.

The patient can expect to return to intensive physical activity in 2-3 weeks after the surgery. Some bruising and swelling usually occur & gradually fade away.

FAQs about breast enlargement abroad

What implant types (saline, hydrogel or silicone-filled) do you use?

Following the newest scientific research, the innovative dual-gel breast implants are being used. These implants are made of two layers silicone gel. The first layer is more solid to provide and preserve the breast shape. Thanks to the tow-layered silicone gel, the breast looks natural as the implant has no sharp edges and tightly fits to the chest even if the patient is very thin. Anatomical and round breast implants. How do they differ?

Anatomical breast implants have a more natural shape; meanwhile round implants are used to emphasize the fullness of the breast.

I plan to get pregnant within a year. Is breast augmentation advisable for me?

We advise to postpone the breast augmentation surgery if the patient is planning to give birth in the following 1-2 years.

How long until the sutures are removed after the surgery?

Normally the sutures are removed within a week after the surgery.

How long until driving is allowed (following the surgery)?

We advise not to drive for at least 7 days after the surgery.

Is it necessary to wear a special bra after the surgery?

Depending on the situation, a special bra should be worn for between 4 and 6 weeks.

When can I fly back home?

Air travel is possible in 4-5 days after the surgery.

For how long is sleeping on stomach not allowed?

We advise to wait 4 weeks before sleeping on the stomach.

When can one return to work after breast enlargement?

Depending on the type of work: if the work is not physically demanding, it is possible to return to work in a few days after the surgery. Yet, physical activity should be restricted for 6 weeks after the surgery.

Will there be any incisions made during the surgery?

Yes, an incision is made either in the crease under the breast, around the areola or under the armpit, depending on every patient’s needs. The surgeon will discuss the most appropriate place to make the incision.

Is it necessary to replace implants over time?

Replacement is advised after 10-20 years, depending on every patient.

Do breast implants have warranty?

Yes, breast implants have a lifetime warrantee for rupture. The patient will receive all the documentation needed after the surgery. The warrantee will cover a new implant and if it breaks within 10 days after the surgery (very rare), the repeated surgery costs will be reimbursed (up to €1000) also.

Is it possible to insert implants of different size? Is there any difference in price?

Yes. There is no difference in pricing.

What are possible complications?

Complications are unlikely, but there are some risks:

  • As with any other surgery, excessive bleeding, swelling or bruising might occur.
  • There is a slight possibility of infections. In some cases, it might be advisable to remove the implant.
  • Some breasts become too firm because a scar tissue forms around the implant. Additional surgery might be needed to address the problem.
  • The nipple might lose its sensitivity, but (in most cases) this is temporal.
  • Sometimes the breasts will have slightly different shapes. Yet, this can be addressed with good results.
  • Rupture of the implant is possible; however, silicone will do no (significant) harm to the body and can be corrected by replacing implants.
  • There is no connection found between breast implants and breast cancer. However, a patient who has implants should inform the radiologist about it before having a mammogram done, so the mammogram technique is adjusted. Silicone obstruct the X-ray, but several images enable to see the entire tissue of the breast.
When can one see the final result?

In 3 months following breast enlargement.

For how long does one have to stay in the clinic after the surgery?

Usually, the patient stays in the clinic for one night after the surgery.

Yes, but only to patients, who receive regular income in the Republic of Lithuania.

Is it possible to get a sick leave after breast enlargement abroad?

No, as elective aesthetic surgeries do not qualify for a sick leave.

Is mammography affected/obstructed by silicone breast implants?

A patient who has implants should inform the radiologist about it before having a mammogram done, so the mammogram technique is adjusted. Silicone obstruct the X-ray, but several images enable to see the entire tissue of the breast.

Can breast cancer be caused by implants?
